SWEET CHARITY

Meet Charity, the girl who wants to be loved so much, that she has lost sight of who she is. Neil Simon’s hilarious musical comedy follows Charity as she sings and dances her way through the romances in her life in search of Mr. Right.  The people who pass through her world are as deceptively charming a group as any who ever swept across the stage. From her cynical, hard-core trio of girlfriends at the dance hall, to the phony evangelist, the Coney Island fun people, the Central Park strollers, and the YMHA self-improvers, every character provides laughs and life lessons.

With the side-splitting humor of Neil Simon at the top of his form, and songs by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields, “Sweet Charity” will send you home laughing and singing the songs which include Hey Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, and Baby, Dream Your Dream.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER

And you think “A Christmas Story” is funny.  In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids—probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won't believe the mayhem—and the fun—when the Herdman kids collide with the Christmas story head-on!  This delightful comedy is adapted from the best selling book by Barbara Robinson.

"An American classic."  —McCall's Magazine.

"One of the best Christmas stories ever—and certainly one of the funniest."  —Seattle Times.

INTO THE WOODS

“Careful for what you wish, wishes are children…”

An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Rapunzel and Jack (of the beanstalk fame). Everyone's wish is granted at the end of Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with heart-breaking results. What begins as a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of "The Princess Bride" becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.

This Special Season Extra co-production with OBU is not included in the price of a season subscription.

BE MY BABY

John and Maude despise each other.  He’s an irascible Scotsman.  She’s an uptight English woman.  Both of them in the middle of their lives and cemented in their ways, they are forced by their young, married wards into taking the journey of a lifetime:  travel 6,000 miles to California to pick up a new-born baby and bring her safely home to Scotland. On their journey, they form a new partnership and learn some startling lessons about life and love.

Written by Ken Ludwig, author of “Lend Me a Tenor,” and “Moon Over Buffalo”, “Be My Baby” will raise your spirit and leave you laughing out loud.

THE PRODUCERS

Mel Brooks.  You know his riotous sense of humor from “Get Smart,” and “Young Frankenstein.”  But first, there was “The Producers,” his 1968 movie which took Broadway by storm in 2001 when he transformed it into this outrageous, hilarious, and just a teeny bit offensive musical.  The show won a record 12 Tony Awards, breaking the record previously held by “Hello Dolly” in 1964.  You will find yourself holding your sides with laughter as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom sing and dance their way through the greatest showbiz scam that there ever was!
